John M. Flack, M.D., M.P.H., FAHA - Chief, Division of Translational Research and Clinical Epidemiology

John M. Flack. M.D., M.P.H., FAHA is a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension and currently serves as the Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, Chief of the Translational Research and Clinical Epidemiology (TRaCE), and Principal Investigator for the Wayne State University Center for Urban and African American Health.

Dr. Flack received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Langston University in 1978 and spent the ensuing 10 years at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Dr. Flack’s research interest includes clinical trial design, implementation, monitoring hypertension in African-Americans and utilization of software-based approaches to support optimal clinical decision making. Dr. Flack is the author of more than 125 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters; he has been selected as one of the “Best Doctors in America” over several years; awarded Pillar of Excellence from the Michigan Peer Review Organization; and selected as a Health Care Hero by Crain’ Detroit Business, for leading multidisciplinary and cutting edge research into root causes of obesity and lifestyle related diseases in African Americans.
